Indigenous Tribes

Adjust programming and materials to accurately honor the Indigenous tribes and their land, and their connection to the College; this includes revising the plaque at the base of the Treaty Elm.

One example of related programming is the event on September 19, 2021, "Beyond Land Acknowledgement and Treaty Elms: Toward Right Relationships with Native Peoples."

A new sign is in place at the Treaty Elm. Arboretum staff are assessing how else the revised narrative can be deployed, e.g. learning materials, with relevant programming about this land’s Lenape heritage scheduled for the 2021-22 academic year.
